About

My ground work focusing on moving the horse's front end, hind quarters, backing, basic lunging, and pole/log work. My goal with ground work is to get the horse light and responsive to be better in the saddle rather than teaching tricks or remaining with ground work for long periods of time so I usually spend about two weeks doing this at the beginning of my training on a horse. Then I will do periodic weekly reviews with the horse as needed. I also use this skills as a workout session in bad weather or to strengthen in a rehabbing situation (pole work especially) and for trailer loading. Sometimes older and spoiled horses or hot headed colts might need daily review and then I just spend about 5-10 minutes doing that before every ride but the drills are the same.
