About
The english world has long been more advanced in the area of knowing the rider needs to be just as fit as the horse to have a true partnership with their horses. Here are some great free workouts on YouTube for equestrians that I have used to maintain my body to stay strong in my riding. I have organized them by body areas to help you have numerous full body workouts. Try to alternate through the various body areas in you workouts as this gives your one body area time to recoup and builds a more even muscle tone in the end. Make sure that you are doing plenty of stretches if you are a muscular body style as well since the leaner muscle will help you actually ride better than a short muscular style. Foam rollers are pretty much a must to roll your back, buttocks, and hamstrings in breaking up scare tissue as well as building the lean muscle versus tight overworked muscles. I highly suggest that you work with a Physical Therapist or Personal Trainer a couple of times to find out what parts of your body need strengthened or if you need to be careful about other body parts that might be injured. This list of workouts is just designed to be a spring board to get you thinking about getting yourself in better shape to enjoy your horse if you can not make it to the gym daily or need a little motivation at home. You should only need a good pair of shoes for most of these exercises; but a foam roller, a Yoga ball and a resistance band is used in a few workouts.
